Microsoft recently announced that it will be withdrawing its support for Microsoft XP and Windows 2003 on 8th April 2014. While it might seem like an unfair thing to do considering that some individual users and business enterprises still run XP or 2003 on their systems, this is in line with Microsoft’s Support Lifecycle Policy which was introduced in 2002 to help them predict the time for which they would support their products although it was made clear that office and Windows products would be supported for a minimum of 8 years. XP is now 12 years and due to the decreasing number of its users, Microsoft has no choice but to stop supporting it.
